Now Licensed for Virtual Dietetic Practice Across Canada

If you live almost anywhere in Canada and are looking for a Registered Dietitian with experience in food allergy or sensitivity, including celiac disease and IBS as well as the specific of providing low carbohydrate or ketogenic diet support, I can help.

Whether you live in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland or Labrador, I am now licensed to provide you with services.

I currently can’t provide Dietitian services to Prince Edward Island (PEI) but if I have enough demand, that may change.

Registered in British Columbia since 2002

I have been registered with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia since 2002 as an RD(t) and since 2008 as a full registrant. This registration enables me to provide services to people across Canada, with the exception of  Alberta and PEI but since I’ve had several physicians in Alberta who have asked to refer patients to me as well as individuals from Alberta requesting services, I recently applied to- and was accepted into the College of Dietitians of Alberta.

Provincial Registration Requirements for Virtual Dietetic Practice

As can be seen from the table below, Registered Dietitian such as myself that provide virtual Dietetic practice services (Distance Consultation) to other provinces are required to meet very specific registration requirements, as well as observe other regulatory regulations.

In the US or overseas?

I am a member of the College of Dietitians of British Columbia as well as the College of Dietitians of Alberta and am licensed to provide Registered Dietitian services in most provinces in Canada (except PEI), but if you live in the USA or elsewhere, I can provide you with nutrition education services that would not be considered medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and that would be provided for information purposes only.

Extended Benefits?

Many people only think about using up their extended benefits in November and December but here are 3 reasons why now is the best time:

    1. Getting a Meal Plan takes a bit of time – After you’ve sent in the intake paper work, there is setting the first appointment for your assessment. The Assessment visit usually takes an hour and a half and afterwards, there’s the time that I need in order to design your individual Meal Plan based on your specific needs and preferences. Waiting until the last minute means there will be several other people’s plans to design ahead of yours and it may be difficult to find a one and a half hour slot at a time that’s convenient for you. Then there’s the appointment time for us to meet for me to go over your Meal Plan with you, and to teach you simple, yet accurate ways to estimate your portion sizes, as well as to answer your questions. Booking in October means you will have your Meal Plan sooner and have time to implement it long before the holiday season!
    2. Time for support and follow-up – some people want some follow-up over the first few weeks in implementing their Meal Plan and waiting until November or December often doesn’t provide enough time for that. Most extended benefits plans will only reimburse for services once they’ve been completed, so getting started now means you will have the support and follow-up you want.
    3. A discount! This year, in order to limit the amount of overtime I need to work in November and December, I’ve decided to offer incentive for people to book their Assessment in the first 3 weeks of October and what better way then by offering you savings?
From now until Friday October 19th, mention this ad and get $50 off a Complete Assessment Package.

Ready to get started?

Please download and complete the Intake and Service Option Form available here and return it to me at the email address listed on the form. If you can send it to me with a copy of your most recent blood test results that will save time.

That’s it! That’s all that’s needed to get started.

Appointment Times

I can provide you with a choice of appointment times and you can book the time that suits you best.

Payment Methods

If you’re seeing me in-person you can pay by cheque or by e-transfer made out to the business, and if you are taking services via Distance Consultation (Skype, telephone) you can pay via credit card on the secure server in the Shop.

Have questions?

Please send me a note using the Contact Me form on the tab above and I will reply as soon as possible.

I look forward to working with you!

To your good health,

Joy

May 1st to June 21st only

Every year from May 1st until the first day of summer only, I offer a ‘Get-Ready-for-Summer’ Special – but this year I wanted to do something very different.

You see, last spring I made the decision to reclaim my health. At the time, I was obese, had Type 2 Diabetes, very high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Even though I knew what to do, I had yet to do it.

Me – before and currently (in process)

About three-quarters the way into my first year, my Diabetes was been in partial remission, my blood pressure was normal and my cholesterol was considered ‘ideal’ (and all remain that way) – and these changes were accomplished only through changes I made in my diet.

Exercise is something I only recently added, for the second year of my “journey”.

I am still “in process” but I am reclaiming my health, one day at a time and my passion is to help others to do the same.

That’s why I am offering this special.

When I made the decision last spring to finally begin to address my own denial and resistance to change, I didn’t have to pay a Dietitian to assess me, determine my risk factors, design a meal plan for me and teach me what I needed to know to be successful.  I just had to do it.

March 2017 & March 2018

I want to make it possible for anyone that could not otherwise afford to do so to be able to reclaim their own health, with my help.

If you want to lose weight, lower your blood sugar, blood pressure or cholesterol, then please send me a note using the “Contact Me” form above and mark “reclaim my health” in the subject line and I will take $100 off a Complete Assessment Package! That’s it.

Please note that this promotion is for those that could not otherwise afford private Dietetic services and does not apply if you have Extended Benefits that will be reimbursing your costs.

You’ ll receive services at what this package cost in 2008…ten years ago!

Let this be the summer that you begin to reclaim your health.
